About this role
AI Research Scientists advance Earthian's categorized risk foundation models—small risk language models and inference systems grounded in domain knowledge graphs. You will push the frontier on climate, geopolitical, technology, cyber, and policy risk reasoning for institutional use.
What you'll do
• Research and prototype inference-native models for financial and physical risk domains
• Design evaluations that reflect real underwriting, investing, and risk workflows
• Collaborate with engineering to move research into production on Earthian Hub
• Publish internally and externally where appropriate; contribute to benchmarks such as FinR Bench
• Explore compound risk scenarios where multiple peril and policy channels interact
What we're looking for
• PhD or MSc in ML, NLP, or a related field—or equivalent research experience with an exceptional industry track record
• Publications, open-source work, or deployed models demonstrating depth in AI systems
• Experience with LLMs/SLMs, retrieval, knowledge graphs, or structured reasoning
• Interest in financial risk, climate science, geopolitics, or cyber is strongly valued
• Rigorous experimentation habits and clear communication with engineering and product teams
